MCC Offering Child Care Center Series
Published on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021
As Montgomery County parents make their way back to the workplace, and children of all ages venture back to the classroom, the ongoing family dilemma re-asserts itself: What are we doing for child care? Post-pandemic answers are even harder to come by; previous arrangements have been disrupted, providers have left the marketplace and parents are left with few good options. A situation of scarcity like the daycare desert facing local Montgomery County families is difficult for them to navigate, but it also presents unique and enticing business opportunities for others. Have you ever considered a career in child care?
If you love the company of children, have a passion for safety and a strong mind for business, this is an economic opportunity you should consider. Providing child care, either from a home or in an established facility, can be a rewarding endeavor for caring entrepreneurs. MCC is offering a series of five free seminars about the child care industry. Monette Ayers and Alicia Herrin, two seasoned instructors, Ayers with child care center ownership experience, Herrin a professional business counselor, will teach the classes. When you complete the program, you will know if a career in child care is right for you, and if so, how to go about getting yourself established. In addition, after attending all five seminars, the Partnership for Children will reimburse you $75, the cost of the state-required Child Care Center Pre-Licensing Workshop.
MCC’s Child Care Center Series topics through the Small Business Center include Business Ownership Self-Assessment, Child Care Center Requirements and Regulations, Financial Feasibility & Planning, Business Plan & Sustainability and Management/Marketing/Operations. The series begins October 5th and runs every Tuesday through November 2nd. The sessions are held at Partnership for Children from 6pm – 8pm, at 404 North Main Street in Troy. Students may attend either in-person or online via Zoom.
