MCC Foundation Celebrates Generosity with Awards

Each year the Montgomery Community College Foundation celebrates the generosity and accomplishments of its top individual contributors.

The 2024 Fundraiser/Friendraiser of the Year Award goes to Oliver and Wanda Sweeney, and Harlan McCaskill. These friends of the College have supported the MCC Foundation for decades. In 2020, they established the Terri McCaskill Stafford Endowment in honor of their aunt. In 2021, they each established their own endowment to support the students at MCC. They continue to support the Foundation and the College through their involvement in events and scholarships.
The 2024 Humanitarian of the Year Award goes to Dr. Dale Ellis. Dr. Ellis recently retired as Superintendent of Montgomery County Schools. He has been a tireless advocate for students, and has supported fundraising efforts in our county. We appreciate his efforts to expand higher education opportunities for local students in Montgomery County.
The MCC Foundation is grateful to these and the many other citizens and employees who enable the financial support it extends to MCC students. In 2023, the MCC Foundation awarded over $146,000 in scholarships to 167 students!
In August each year the MCC Foundation celebrates its Scholarship Awards event during a campus ceremony. In early fall, the Foundation begins preparations for its annual auction fundraiser which includes dinner and live music. Later in the fall the Foundation raises funds through its Clays for Education event, and every spring the Foundation sponsors its annual Earle A. Connelly invitational golf tournament.
Whether people participate in the Foundation’s auction fundraiser, the spring golf tournament or the fall sporting clays competition, their tax-deductible contributions make an enormous difference to young people in Montgomery County. Donations to the MCC Foundation make tuition, books and fees affordable for our students, and we are grateful to all of our donors for extending the possibilities of education to our students.
There are many ways to become involved! You can attend an event, bring a friend along, become a scholarship or program donor, or join the Foundation board. All inquiries are welcome! Contact Susanna Kornegay at kornegays6507@montgomery.edu.
